Fifth Sector Development Marks New Era for Baghdad

The Prime Minister Mohammed Shia S. Al-Sudani has launched construction on the Al-Kuraiaat Bridge, over the Tigris River. This move is part of a large-scale redevelopment plan for the Al-Kadhimiya district, as part of the “More Beautiful Baghdad” initiative. 

The bridge is the first project in the Fifth Sector area, a former military zone, now transformed into a new hub for public services and cultural and religious centres. 

Al-Sudani showed recognition to the government bodies and local leaders who contributed to the planning and organisation of the opening. 

The wider plan includes traffic relief projects, new schools, infrastructure upgrades, and green spaces, all part of a broader push to reshape Baghdad into a more liveable, vibrant capital.
