The European Union Advisory Mission in Iraq met for the fourth Cultural Heritage Protection roundtable at its Baghdad location.
The meeting brought together the State Board of Antiquities and Heritage, the Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency, the Iraqi National Intelligence Service, the Heritage Protection Police, the Office of the National Security Adviser, and representatives from the Kurdistan Region’s Ministries of Interior and Culture.
The participants reviewed the needs and requirements set out in previous meetings, discussed ways to further strengthen inter-agency cooperation, and followed up on recent developments in the National Cultural Heritage Strategy and workshops dedicated to protecting cultural heritage.
Through these regular exchanges, EUAM Iraq helps national partners to support a more unified and effective approach to protecting Iraq’s cultural heritage from existing challenges.
