Babylon Province has officially witnessed the launch of the Diwan Factory project, a major private sector investment aimed at localising Iraq’s electrical industries and enhancing national energy security. The facility, inaugurated by Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani, will produce electrical transformers, power cables, and smart metering systems.
Built to the latest international standards, the project is valued at $300 million and is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening Iraq’s power grid, reducing reliance on imports, and paving the way for renewable energy integration.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting industrial development and praised the efforts of Iraqi professionals working to modernise the sector.
The Diwan Factory stands as a key step in Iraq’s broader strategy to renew local manufacturing and promote energy independence.
