The Ministry of Transport, led by Minister Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi, has announced plans to improve public transport in Dhi Qar Governorate, following his visit to the area.
Al-Saadawi highlighted the importance of developing transportation infrastructure in Dhi Qar, noting its significance for local citizens and the growing tourism sector.
The first batch of buses has been sent to Nasiriyah, with services starting on specific routes in the city. This initiative, coordinated with the local government, will later expand to districts and sub-districts, offering better transport options for residents.
The plan aims to ease traffic congestion, support low-income groups, and help students commute more easily. Minister Al-Saadawi highlighted the importance of enhancing Dhi Qar’s transportation network during his recent visit, which also included an inspection of Nasiriyah International Airport.
Additional buses will be sent in stages, further boosting public transport services in the governorate.
