CMC Conference on Iraqi Women’s Participation in Elections

Baghdad – (iina) The Communications and Media Commission (CMC) held a session discussing the initiative of supporting women’s participation in the 2023 provincial council election. This empowering workshop is titled ‘Media and the Challenges of Iraqi Women in the Political Field’, which many non-governmental and governmental organisations attended.

Ms. Avia Faiq Nader, a member of CMC, expressed that the authority should be a responsible regulator to legislate laws and set regulations that contribute to the support and empowerment of women in all areas of the authority’s work. Ms. Nader added that all state institutions need to put an effort into the empowering of women.

Many topics were discussed at the workshop, including political representations and influence for women candidates in the elections.
