Chevron in Talks with Iraq on Oil Cooperation

Prime Minister Mohammed Al-Sudani met on Sunday with Joe Koch, Vice President of Chevron Corporation, to discuss expanding cooperation in Iraq’s oil and energy sectors and enhancing investment opportunities with the Ministry of Oil.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed Chevron’s current activities and explored prospects for future collaboration aimed at strengthening investment and creating a more attractive operating environment in Iraq’s energy industry.

Discussions also focused on identifying practical steps to overcome existing challenges and adapt contractual frameworks in line with the government’s development priorities. Al-Sudani stressed the importance of maximising oil production revenues while expanding refining and processing capacities to support long-term economic growth.

The Prime Minister directed that talks between the Ministry of Oil and Chevron continue in order to identify optimal investment opportunities and ensure the effective use of Iraq’s oil resources, reinforcing the government’s commitment to cooperation with international energy companies.
