Celebrating Iraq National Day 2025

October 3, 2025, marked Iraq’s 93rd National Day. A celebration of the anniversary of its independence and formal recognition as a sovereign state.

Yesterday, Iraqis across the country came together to celebrate the occasion with renewed national pride, and a powerful sense of unity.

The day’s celebrations began with a solemn and proud 21-gun salute at dawn, followed by an aerial display from the Iraqi Air Force. Throughout the day, official ceremonies took place at key landmarks across Iraq, whilst schools and public spaces were decorated with Iraqi flags.

One of the day’s standout moments was the Baghdad marathon; with over 2,000 runners from across the country, united under the slogan “One Flag, One Homeland.”

Organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the event showcased the vibrant energy that defines modern-day Iraq.

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani addressed the nation in his congratulatory message, reminding citizens of Iraq that the celebrations were not only about remembering the past, but about building a future grounded in unity and development.
