Bridge and Tunnel of Dignity Nears Completion in Missan

The Ministry of Planning announced on Wednesday that the Bridge and Tunnel of Dignity project in central Missan Governorate has reached 98% completion, with an official opening expected by the end of July.

The Ministry confirmed that specialised field teams visited the site to evaluate progress and address potential challenges. The project is considered a strategic infrastructure initiative aimed at easing traffic congestion in the city of Amarah and enhancing urban mobility.

Key factors of the project include two major bridges: one stretching 640 meters with four spans connecting northern neighbourhoods to Al-Masharah Road, and a second 495-meter bridge linking Al Masharah Road to the Majdiyah district. Additionally, the project features a 458 meter long, 18.5-meter-wide tunnel, a pumping station, and an integrated rainwater drainage system.

To improve the city’s functional urban environment, the development also includes new roads, a modern lighting system with 25-meter-high towers, landscaped gardens, a central divider, and a dancing fountain.

The Ministry described the project as a quality addition to the province’s infrastructure, expected to significantly boost urban development and provide major traffic relief for residents of Amarah and surrounding areas.
