The Ministry of Culture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with the Iraqi Ministry of Culture and the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq, is set to host the “Between Two Cultures” Festival in Riyadh from December 18 to 31, 2024. The festival aims to highlight the profound cultural and historical ties between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, showcasing the rich diversity and heritage of both nations.
The event presents an opportunity to exchange cultural experiences, strengthen mutual understanding, and enhance bilateral relations in the artistic and cultural sectors.
The festival features an array of activities, including art exhibitions, traditional music performances, and cultural seminars that explore the shared historical legacy of Iraq and Saudi Arabia. A standout feature will be the “Reed Host”, an architectural marvel inspired by Iraq’s Sumerian heritage, specially constructed as the main venue for the festival’s events.
Organised by Iraq’s Vision for Contemporary Culture Foundation, under the leadership of Dr. Tamara Ahmed Al-Jalabi, the festival will bring together prominent Iraqi and Saudi artists, intellectuals, and cultural pioneers to celebrate creativity and shared history.
Iraq’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ms. Safia Talib Al-Suhail, emphasised the significance of this initiative in strengthening cultural cooperation. She noted that the rich cultural and historical commonalities between the two nations provide fertile ground for deepening ties and fostering dialogue. Ambassador Al-Suhail described the event as a unique platform for exchanging ideas and showcasing the cultural identity and heritage of Iraq and Saudi Arabia, contributing to a stronger partnership between the two peoples.
