The Basra General Corporation for Iron and Steel is making significant progress in producing iron pipes for Iraq’s Basra-Halfaya oil pipeline project. The pipeline, spanning 193 kilometres and with a diameter of 16 inches, will transport oil and gas as part of a strategic national project.
The plant’s General Manager, said the pipes are being manufactured to the high standards of the American Petroleum Institute (API) and are undergoing detailed inspections by Iraqi teams, with support from international partners. He confirmed that production is in its advanced stages and is expected to meet the project’s deadlines.
This successful partnership with the private sector has strengthened the plant’s production capacity, making it the only facility in Iraq capable of producing iron pipes ranging from 16 to 60 inches in diameter. The factory’s work ensures that Iraq can meet its growing infrastructure needs for oil and gas projects while maintaining international quality standards.
