Basra Airport Receives First Etihad Flight in 12 Years

Basra International Airport welcomed an Etihad Airways flight from the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday, marking the first landing of its kind in 12 years. The arrival reflects a growing air connection between Iraq and the UAE.

The event included the traditional water arch ceremony and a reception organised by airport staff, highlighting the importance of the flight for aviation cooperation.

Airport officials confirmed that Basra International is fully equipped to handle all types of aircraft and is continuing efforts to strengthen its role as a regional travel hub.

In addition, the airport received several aircraft transporting UAE football fans who attended the national team’s match against Iraq, which took place yesterday in Basra.
