Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani conducted a field visit on Monday to the Al-Jadriya and Gaza bridge projects being implemented over the Tigris River in Baghdad. These projects are key components of the first package of infrastructure works aimed at easing traffic congestion in the capital.
During the visit, the Prime Minister reviewed progress and received a detailed briefing on the stages of completion. He commended the efforts of engineers, workers, and supporting agencies, reaffirming the government’s commitment to continuing service and development projects across all governorates in line with approved specifications and standards to guarantee quality completion.
The Al-Jadriya Bridge extends 520 metres in length and 20 metres in width, running in two directions from the Al-Karrada area to Al-Aaras Island, passing through Al-Qadisiyah and ending at Al-Nusour Square. It is one of four new concrete bridges designed to connect the Rusafa and Karkh sides of Baghdad.
The Gaza Bridge, spanning 385 metres, will serve as a vital new corridor linking Al-Zaafaraniya on the Rusafa side with the Dora–Yusufiya expressway on the Karkh side. The project has reached advanced stages of implementation and is expected to significantly ease traffic movement across the southern part of the city.
