The Khadhraa Bridge, which links the neighbourhoods of Al-Khadhraa and Al-Jami’a in western Baghdad, has officially reopened after 18 years out of service.
The bridge was severely damaged in a 2006 terrorist attack and remained closed for nearly two decades.
Its full reconstruction was carried out by the Projects Directorate of the Baghdad Mayoralty, funded by the government under the “Government of Services” initiative led by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mayor Kazem noted that the reopening will significantly ease traffic congestion in the area.
