Arab Media Summit Focuses on Digital Sovereignty Future

Dr. Nouvel Aborghev, Head of Iraq’s Media and Communications Authority, participated in the 21st Arab Media Summit in Beirut, where he met with Lebanese Minister of Media Dr. Paul Marqas. 

The annual summit, held under the patronage of Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun, convenes Arab media ministers, regulatory heads, and senior figures from major media organisations. The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, is also attending.

During the opening session, Dr. Aborges delivered Iraq’s national address, outlining a strategic vision for strengthening media governance, enhancing professional standards, and safeguarding digital sovereignty. He emphasised Iraq’s efforts to modernise its media environment under legal frameworks that prioritise public trust and responsible digital transformation.

The Summit is being held under the theme “Media and Development… Partners of the Present and Alliance of the Future,” highlighting collaboration between media institutions and governments to accelerate sustainable development pathways across the region.

The Iraqi delegation continues its engagements with Arab counterparts, focusing on partnerships that reinforce Iraq’s position in the evolving Arab media landscape.
