Arab League Praises Iraq’s Summit Success

Ambassador Dr. Qahtan Taha Khalaf Al-Janabi, Iraq’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, met with Ambassador Hossam Zaki, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League and Director of the Secretary-General’s Office, at the League’s General Secretariat headquarters.

The meeting focused on following up the outcomes of the 34th Arab Summit, held in Baghdad on May 17th 2025. Discussions centred on mechanisms to ensure the implementation of the resolutions proposed by Iraq and adopted during the summit, which addressed key regional challenges and aspirations for enhanced Arab cooperation.

Ambassador Al-Janabi reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to realising these resolutions within the framework of joint Arab action, highlighting Baghdad’s growing engagement within the League. He noted that Iraq’s revitalised role reflects its dedication to strengthening Arab solidarity and contributing constructively to regional diplomacy.

He stressed the importance of sustained coordination with the League’s General Secretariat to translate summit decisions into tangible outcomes that serve the collective interests of Arab nations equitably and effectively.

Ambassador Zaki, in turn, commended the Iraqi government for its organisational efforts and its constructive role within the Arab world. Zaki also reaffirmed the General Secretariat’s full support for the implementation phase and expressed readiness to work closely with Iraq across a range of shared priorities.

The meeting reflected a shared determination to ensure that the momentum generated by the Baghdad summit is maintained through practical cooperation, reinforcing Iraq’s position as a central player in regional affairs and a key partner in advancing Arab unity and development.
