In a significant step towards improving surgical care in Iraq’s western provinces, the Anbar Health Department has inaugurated seven new operating rooms at Ramadi Teaching Hospital. The opening, which took place on the 3rd of July 2025, marks the second phase of the hospital’s rehabilitation project and falls under the government’s broader programme to enhance public health services.
The new facilities were opened under the patronage of the Minister of Health, Dr. Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi, and with the support of the Ministry of Health and the local government. The event was attended by Anbar Governor Mohammed Nouri, senior health officials, engineers, and medical staff.
This development is part of a larger integrated effort to equip a total of 21 operating rooms at the hospital. The project is being implemented under the supervision of the Anbar Health Department, with the goal of strengthening the region’s healthcare infrastructure and expanding access to high-quality surgical services.
Health officials say the upgraded facilities will help meet growing medical needs in the governorate and reduce pressure on other hospitals, offering patients better access to timely and specialised surgical care.
