Prime Minister Mohammed Al-Sudani on Thursday inaugurated the Al-Zohour Central Water Project, a key infrastructure development designed to improve water services for residents in Al-Hussainiya and Al-Intisar, located in northern Baghdad.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office, the newly launched facility has a production capacity of 10,000 cubic metres per hour, providing clean drinking water to an estimated 800,000 residents.
The Al-Zohour project represents one of the major undertakings to tackle water shortages in the capital, contributing significantly to the city’s overall water supply network.
This initiative forms part of the government’s broader strategy to upgrade water and sanitation infrastructure across Iraq, ensuring sustainable access to essential public services.
