Al-Karkh University Unveils New Faculties Amid Expansion

Iraq’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr Naeem Al-Aboudi, inaugurated new faculties of Engineering, Law, and Management and Economics at Al-Karkh University of Science as part of a nationwide expansion plan.

The ministry has established 52 new colleges, 192 departments, and 70 specialised branches across various disciplines over the past three years. These steps aim to increase university capacity to accommodate over one million students by 2030.

Dr Al-Aboudi highlighted that Iraqi universities are becoming more integrated into the global academic landscape, with expansion initiatives designed to strengthen research, innovation, and international presence.

The newly inaugurated faculties feature modern classrooms, specialised laboratories, comprehensive libraries, and supporting facilities to enhance the learning and research environment, aligning academic training with market and development needs.
