As part of strengthening cultural cooperation between Iraq and Japan, introducing Iraqi culture, and promoting Baghdad as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2025, the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Tokyo has organised a cultural activity on April 17th 2025, in cooperation with the Cultural Center of the NHK Japan Broadcasting Corporation. The event included welcoming Japanese citizens from various age groups and cultural backgrounds to the embassy.

The embassy displayed a visual presentation about Iraq. The presentation included an introduction to Iraqi civilization, ancient and contemporary history, Iraq’s location, population, Iraqi culture, and its most important archaeological and urban cities. Information was also provided about the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, noting its selection as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2025. The embassy encouraged attendees to visit the city and closely examine its cultural landmarks, development, progress, and urbanisation. The embassy also screened videos in the reception hall about tourism sites around Iraq. These videos were well-received by attendees, who expressed their desire to visit Iraq as soon as possible.
In addition, the embassy hosted a luncheon featuring a variety of Iraqi dishes to introduce Iraqi cuisine. Attendees were also given an explanation of the origins of these dishes and their popularity in each Iraqi region.
