The fish of the Gulf on sale in Basrah’s fish market, one of Iraq’s largest

The fish market in Basrah stocks more than 35 different species of fish and marine organisms, and the equivalent of 25 million dinars of fish is sold there daily.

One of the sellers in the market, Sultan Al-Basri, said, “There are many types of sea fish, including shank fish, sea pigeon, tuna, sea bride, shank shaari.” Prices range from six thousand Iraqi dinars to ten thousand Iraqi dinars per kilogram. Fish remains the favorite food on the tables of the Iraqi family.
