Starlink Eyes Entry Into Iraqi Market

Prime Minister Mohammed Al-Sudani met with a delegation from the US company SpaceX (Starlink) on Wednesday to discuss potential cooperation in the communications sector.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Al-Sudani emphasised that Iraq currently presents numerous promising investment opportunities amid rapid urban growth and expanding service development. 

He warmly welcomed the SpaceX (Starlink) as a key partner in the country’s ongoing digital transformation.

Al-Sudani highlighted this collaboration within the framework of the Iraq-US Strategic Framework Agreement and other bilateral government agreements covering economic, scientific, and development sectors, indicating that Starlink will play a pivotal role in Iraq’s digital advancement.

The Prime Minister has instructed relevant authorities to implement measures that will facilitate SpaceX (Starlink) operations and expedite necessary procedures.

He extended a welcoming invitation to leading technology companies, particularly those from the United States, encouraging them to establish operations in Iraq and collaborate with the Iraqi private sector in line with the government’s digital transformation vision.

The SpaceX delegation expressed their readiness to operate in Iraq, affirming that Starlink’s services would significantly contribute to digital transformation across both the public and private sectors, enhance communications, and support economic prosperity within the framework of Iraq-US cooperation.
