Extreme Heatwave Leaving the Population of Iraq Helpless

Iraq is suffering from a major climate change with extremely high temperatures reaching 50 degrees Celsius. This heatwave is causing great suffering amongst the population as they are also facing power cuts, making it torturous to do their day-to-day tasks.

The only resource left is water as they are unable to use fans or air conditioning. However, the southern region of Iraq is the most affected due to its water shortage, and also diminished water levels of the Euphrates River caused by low rainfall.

The country is in high danger as many local farmers and fishermen are struggling to increase their production. Basic measures are lacking in the country, and the population of Iraq has taken the matter into their own hands by helping each other to survive under these extreme weather conditions.
