CMC and CST Sign a Memorandum of Understanding

The head of the Communications and Media Commission (CMC) met with the Governor of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST), Dr. Mohammed bin Saud Al-Tamimi, to discuss a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of digitisation and electronic governance.

Dr. Ali Moayyed, the head of CMC, met on Tuesday with Mr. Mohammed Al-Tamimi to discuss enhancing cooperation mechanisms between the two amicable countries in the fields of communications and information technology.

During the meeting, held on the sidelines of Iraq’s participation in the International Mobile Phones Conference MWC 2024, there were discussions including digital economy files, digital skills development, and opening avenues of cooperation between Iraq and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia regarding regulatory affairs in the information sector, narrowing the digital gap, and supporting business incubators.

An agreement was reached to sign a MoU in the field of digital transformation, the development of the information technology sector, electronic governance, and support for market needs in digital skills. Additionally, they discussed development of practices with social media platforms and addressed their regulatory requirements.

It is also worth mentioning that the International Mobile Phones Conference MWC 2024 is held annually in February in Barcelona and is considered the world’s leading event in the field of mobile phones and advanced communication technologies. It involves the participation of major companies, regulatory bodies, and government officials from various countries worldwide.
