A Railroad Project from the Middle-East to Europe

Iraq is developing an important project for its economy with a railroad project connecting the Gulf to Europe via Iraq and Turkey. The ambitious project is due to finish by 2028.

A meeting was held between the Iraqi Minister of Transport, Mr. Razzaq Al-Saadawi, and representatives of the World Bank. They discussed the designs of the railroad project and the growth of Iraq’s public transport network. Also, an Italian consulting company is responsible for the project’s design and the Minister put a great emphasis on the assistance the World Bank can provide with their advice on the design and on their skills on regional and intercontinental transport.

The World Bank established research on the options of global trade between the East and the West, as well as investment strategies of public and private sectors.
