Iraq, UK Discuss Academic Cooperation at Embassy

The acting head of Iraq’s embassy in London met a delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education on Monday to discuss expanding academic and scientific cooperation with British universities.

Dr Ahmed Al-Jabouri, chargé d’affaires at the Iraqi Embassy, received the delegation led by Dr Ahmed Jafar, Director General of the Legal Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The talks focused on strengthening partnerships between Iraqi and British universities, promoting joint research programmes and expanding academic exchanges between the two countries.

Officials reviewed visits to several British universities aimed at developing cooperation in higher education and sharing expertise, as part of efforts to build Iraqi human capacity and modernise academic programmes.

Al-Jabouri stressed the importance of making use of the strong relations between Iraq and the UK to support research, education and training initiatives that contribute to Iraq’s long term development.

The meeting also discussed issues related to cultural representation and Iraqi cultural property in London, and ways to address them through cooperation with relevant institutions.
