Iraq advances tourism sector with Arab cooperation

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani received on Wednesday Mr. Bandar bin Fahd Al-Fahaid, President of the Arab Tourism Organization, to discuss enhancing Iraq’s tourism industry and the role of the banking sector in supporting investment across the sector.

The meeting highlighted preparations for two upcoming conferences in Baghdad: an Arab Tourism Media Conference and a conference on Arab banks’ role in tourism investment, which will involve over 80 banks and investors.

Al-Sudani reaffirmed Iraq’s cooperation with the Arab Tourism Organization and the League of Arab States to strengthen the country’s position as a prominent tourist destination regionally and internationally. He stressed the government’s commitment to tourism as a key economic driver and supported the recommendations of the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism, covering development, investment, infrastructure, and services, including cultural and religious tourism.

The Prime Minister directed the allocation of land for an investment hotel, a tourism development and training academy, and a regional office for the Arab Tourism Organization in Baghdad.

Mr. Al-Fahaid praised Iraq’s leading role in Arab tourism and commended the government’s efforts to enhance regional tourism cooperation and exchange.
