Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met today with the European Union Ambassador to Iraq, Klemens Semtner, to discuss strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation across investment, trade, energy, and environmental initiatives.
The meeting also focused on implementing partnership agreements and memoranda of cooperation to address shared challenges and promote economic growth.
Al-Sudani expressed gratitude for the EU’s role in supporting Iraq’s recent parliamentary elections, which saw increased voter turnout, reflecting growing public confidence in the political process. He invited European companies to participate in Iraq’s Development Road Project and highlighted the need to lift aviation restrictions with EU states, citing their impact on tourism and trade.
Ambassador Semtner congratulated Iraq on the smooth elections and praised the government’s policies to maintain regional stability, implement economic and security reforms, and improve water management systems.
