Najaf – (iina) Al-Rahba Castle is considered one of the neglected historical tourist places in the Al-Najaf Governorate. It is located on the edge of the southern desert in Al-Rahba district, 35 kilometers away from the city of Najaf. The year of its construction is unclear, however, according to research it may date back to more than two hundred years ago.
The castle has not been in a good state due to neglect. Some parts of the castle are crumbling which causes a great risk for visitors. Also, climate is a big factor of the castle collapsing, especially rain.
Researchers are working on finding measure to preserve this heritage site.
