42-Knot Gas Pipeline Nears Completion in Iraq

The 42-knot gas pipeline project (Mahmoudiya-Bismayah) has reached a major milestone, as substantial progress has been made in completing the pipeline, including its critical route through the Tigris River and the main outlet. The project, led by national oil companies, aims to enhance gas transportation and secure fuel supply for the Bismayah power plant, a key facility serving the capital, Baghdad.

Despite numerous challenges, the oil companies involved have shown remarkable dedication, completing the connection of the gas pipeline valve, with a diameter of 42 knots, within just 48 hours of continuous work. The pipeline’s completion will significantly bolster gas supply to Bismayah, improving the power plant’s efficiency and stability.

The successful resumption of gas pumping operations to the Bismayah power station marks a critical achievement in Iraq’s energy sector. The project has been closely monitored at the highest levels, reflecting its strategic importance for meeting the country’s growing energy demands.

Accompanying the inspection of the pipeline route were representatives from the Oil Projects Company, the Oil Pipelines Company, and other relevant oil firms, all of whom have played a vital role in advancing the project.
